Franseen Limousin is a growing Limousin seedstock program to watch. John and Amanda Franseen started their operation near Marshfield, Wisconsin in 2009. For over a decade John helped manage and breed cattle for his father’s operation, Grand Meadow Limousin. This experience cultivated a love for Limousin seedstock and sharpened his management skills.
Today, their growing herd consists of about a dozen purebred Limousin and Lim Flex® females. The Lim-Flex® females include daughters of EXAR Sundance, BR Midland, Mags Unloaded Gun, Sprng Crks Urlacher, and two half sisters of Spring Wulf Creek. The purebred females include daughters of Wulfs Space Ship, EXLR Excellante, Wulfs Uncharted Waters, Mags Shaggy and Carrousels Peak Power.
They plan to continue to expand using breed-leading AI genetics. Their cattle need to show good growth while maintaining calving ease, high fertility, and muscle. Their Lim-Flex® program is littered with high-marbling genetics. Above all else, however, is the importance of docility. “Our operation isn’t large enough to hide wild cattle in the back pasture. We won’t deal with them and wouldn’t expect our customers to either,” John said.
Next spring, Franseen Limousin expects calves on the ground by Wulfs Sirloin, Wulfs Warrior, Wulfs Uncharted Waters, Wulfs Waldo, ROMN Tow Truck, and EXAR 263C. Look for their cattle to be on display at the World Beef Expo and the Limousin Association of Wisconsin State Sale.
Thanks to Spring Creeks Cattle Company and Greg Kremer for their purchases of herd sires, Spring 2011.
