About the Heartland Limousin Association…
The Heartland Limousin Association works with both commercial cattlemen and Limousin seedstock producers in an eight-state region (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, South Dakota, & Wisconsin), as well as individual members from across the United States.

The goal of the association is to promote the use of Limousin genetics in the commercial beef industry and to help Limousin breeders increase their market share through a variety of programs and events. These include:

  • Heart Beat – the HLA newspaper is printed five times a year (September/October, November/December, January/February, March/April and May/June). The deadline for news, ads and pictures is the 10th of the month prior to publication.
  • HLA Banquet & Benefit Auction – This annual event takes place the night before the Iowa Beef Expo in Des Moines. We appreciate the support of everyone who donated and purchased items. The money raised from the auction helps to support the travel expenses of the executive secretary.
  • HLA Regional Show – The junior show is held each year as a way for juniors to exhibit their animals with juniors from across the Midwest. The next show will be held on May 24-25, 2013 in Indianola, IA. We will allow for “late arrivals” if junior exhibitors are still in school.
  • State Events – Each state holds an annual meeting, banquet and benefit auction. In addition, they also name a Commercial Producer of the Year. The state and Heartland presents this person with a plaque at a state event. Junior field days, consignment sales, production sales and other social events round out the calendar.
