TLA’s Texas Best Sale
The Texas Limousin Association held its annual Texas Best Sale at the Decatur Livestock Market in Decatur, TX on April 18. The offering included performance tested bulls, show prospects, pairs, bred cows, and open heifers. The demand for the performance tested bulls and show prospects was especially high. The following is a sale summary as reported by Texas Limousin Association Executive Secretary, Ralph Hawkins.
Sale Stats:
- 147 Total lots grossed $217,550 = $1,480 (avg.)
- 25 Bulls totaled $56,525 = $2,261 (avg.)
- 10 Open heifers totaled $8,720 = $872 (avg.)
- 31 Bred females totaled $34,379 = $1,109 (avg.)
- 44 Pairs totaled $62,612 = $1,423 (avg.)
- 27 Futurity heifers lots totaled $47,601 = $1,763 (avg.)
- 13 Show steer prospects totaled $13,000 = $1,000 (avg.)
Sale Summary
Top-Selling Lot:
$5,500 – LFL Rambling Rose – 4/22/04 red, polled daughter of MAGS Kaboom bred to DHVO Trey. Buyer: Payne Cattle Co (Levelland, TX) $1800. Her 10/3/08 heifer calf by DHVO Trey was purchased by Troy Holdman (Sundown, TX) for $3,700. Consigned by: Lawrence Family Limousin (Anton, TX).
Top-Selling Futurity Heifer:
$4,050 – UGNX Upper Class – 9/7/08 daughter of KRVN Pacesetter. Rusty McCarthy IV (Magnolia, TX) purchased this top prospect. Consignor: Eugenics Black Limousin (Springtown, TX).
Top-Selling Bull:
$3,900 – BR Titan – 11/3/07 homozygous black son of GPFF Blaque Rulon. Buyer: Scott Fullwood (Roscoe, TX). Baber Ranch (Marquez, TX) consigned the bull.
Top-Selling Steer Prospect (new addition to this year’s sale):
$1,600 – 10/23/08 half blood son of KRVN Pacesetter. Hunter Francis (Perrin, TX) purchased the prospect. Consignor: Lawrence Family Limousin (Anton, TX).
Other High-Selling Lots:
$2,300 – BGHB Rebecca – 2/3/05 homozygous black daughter of AUTO Black Dakota. Buyer: Brister Limousin (Azle, TX). Her 11/9/08 heifer calf by DHVO Trey was purchased by Gary Waters (Sundown, TX). Both lots consigned by Kassidy Chapman (Spade,TX).
$3,500 – YRTX Unlimited 78U – 9/1/08 daughter of KRVN Pacesetter and KRVN Nu Girl 57N. The futurity heifer was purchased by Jordan Cameron (Springtown, TX). Consigned by Young & Rogers (Windthorst, TX).
$2,900 – SSTO Turn it Up 7452T – homozygous black and homozygous polled son of AUTO Dollar General and SSTO Ryann. Buyer: Steve Deviller (Winnie, TX). Consignor: Stowers Limousin (Bridgeport, TX).
